Tom holds a 100-ton USCG Captain’s license and is a certified ASA Instructor.  Tom retired as VP of a software company in 2015, and sailed about 10,000 miles over the next 3 years. Big trips included the Puddle Jump, from Panama to Tahiti in 2015, and the Pacific Cup from SF to Hawaii in 2016.  He stayed in Hawaii for the next 10 months with his girlfriend, sailing around each of the islands from a temporary-long-term berth in Kewalo Harbor, Oahu.  They sailed back to SF in 2017 in a challenging trip that took 23 days. He and his girlfriend live on their boat in the Marina Village Yacht Harbor in Alameda.
